A CRUCIAL PART OF CARING FOR YOUR PET
The Importance of Pet Dental Care
Without proper dental care, most dogs and cats suffer from some degree of periodontal disease by the time they reach four years of age. For some pets, the problems are mild. But for others, periodontal disease can cause extreme pain, difficultly eating, or even organ damage as bacteria spreads from the mouth to the rest of the body via the bloodstream.
When you bring your dog or cat to us for dental care, we will carefully examine their mouth for signs of tooth decay, periodontal disease, gingivitis, and other issues. From there, we may recommend a complete cleaning performed under general anesthesia. We may also provide suggestions for at-home dental care to help you better care for your pet’s pearly whites between appointments. Extractions are also sometimes required in cases of serious periodontal disease.
